(4.9 Out Of 5.0)
Exam season is stressful enough without carrying boxes up a hill. President Movers is a Burnaby student moving company that helps Simon Fraser University students move in and out of residence, off-campus apartments, and UniverCity housing, quickly and safely, without the runaround.
Why SFU Students Choose President Movers
- 4.9/5.0 Google rating, backed by over a decade of moving experience across the Lower Mainland and we are also budget-friendly.
- Fully licensed and insured, so your belongings are covered from pickup to drop-off.
- We know the mountain – Burnaby Mountain’s narrow roads, UniverCity’s parking rules, and residence loading zones aren’t new to us. We plan around them so your move-in day goes smoothly.
- Straightforward pricing – You’ll know the cost before we start, with no surprise fees added at the end.
- Seven days a week – Weekend and evening moves work around class schedules, not against them.
- Careful with your stuff – Gaming setups, textbooks, mini-fridges, a family heirloom. Our crew treats every item the way they’d treat their own.
- Reusable moving bins and eco-friendly packing materials are available if you’d rather not deal with a pile of cardboard at the end of the move.
- Built for tight turnarounds, including last-minute lease changes and mid-semester moves, not just the September rush.

Moving Day at SFU: What to Know
SFU’s Burnaby Mountain campus has its own rules for move-in day, and it helps to plan around them.
Parking: SFU doesn’t allow parking on campus roadways, only in identified lots with the appropriate permit or decal. On move-in day, follow the signs posted in and near the Residence Main Parking Lot and the West Mall Visitors Parkade. Note that there’s no free parking on the Burnaby campus; all parking is paid, by permit, paystation, or app.
Unloading: Residents of most residence buildings are asked to stay parked in the West Mall Parkade and borrow one of SFU’s moving carts to bring belongings up to their room.
Traffic: The roads up Burnaby Mountain get busy during peak move-in weekends in late August and early September. We plan our arrival times to avoid the worst of it.
Elevator bookings: Many off-campus condo buildings near SFU require you to book the service elevator in advance, and popular move-in dates fill up fast. Check with your building manager or strata as soon as your move-in date is set so you’re not stuck with a leftover time slot.
Measure before you move: A sofa or desk that fits your last place may not fit through a Burnaby apartment’s elevator, hallway, or front door. This catches more students off guard than almost anything else on moving day, and a quick measurement ahead of time saves a lot of frustration.
What Affects the Cost of a Student Move
Moving costs are usually based on crew size, hours worked, and how much you’re moving, rather than a flat fee. A small dorm room move typically needs fewer hours than a full apartment. A few things that help keep costs down:
- Move on a weekday. Tuesday through Thursday are generally less busy than weekends.
- Downsize first. Sell or donate furniture and textbooks you won’t need. Fewer items mean less time on the clock.
- Pack your own boxes. Our crew can pack for you, but doing it yourself ahead of time can lower the total hours.
- Share a truck. If you and a roommate are moving the same day, combining loads can reduce the cost for both of you.

How Your SFU Move Works
1. Request a quote – Tell us what you’re moving, where from, and your move-in date.
2. Pick a time – We work around your class and exam schedule.
3. We do the lifting – Our crew shows up on time with the right equipment to protect your things.
4. You settle in – Unpack at your own pace, or let us help set up your new place.
When to Book Your Move
Late August through early September is the busiest stretch for SFU moves, as students move in for the Fall semester. April and May see a similar rush as leases turn over. If your move falls in one of these windows, book at least three to four weeks ahead to get your preferred date. Moving mid-semester or mid-month usually means more flexible scheduling and shorter notice.
Metro Vancouver’s rainy season runs from October through March. If your move falls during this stretch, let us know, and we’ll come prepared to protect your belongings and your floors from wet weather.

We recently used President Movers and had a really positive experience with Archie and his crew. They were professional, easy to communicate with, and stuck to the quoted price with no surprises. We had some fragile items, including antiques and glass, and everything was moved carefully with zero damage. Overall, super happy with the service. Reliable, hardworking, and great follow-through. Would definitely use them again and recommend to others.Posted on Google Mollie Montaine28 March 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had an excellent experience with President Movers, and especially with Archie and his team. From start to finish, their communication was clear, professional, and reliable. The quote provided was accurate with no surprises, which we really appreciated. They handled all of our belongings with great care, including antiques, glass items, and TVs and everything arrived without any damage. There was one small challenge getting my mom’s box spring mattress up the stairs, which caused a couple of dents in the wall. However, what really stood out was their integrity and follow-through, Archie came back the same week and repaired the damage, and honestly did a better job than the handyman we had previously hired. Overall, we were very happy with the move. Archie went above and beyond, even letting us know that we can reach out to him in the future for repairs or handyman work at a fair price, which is such a great added bonus. Highly recommend Archie and his team, professional, careful, and genuinely committed to their customers!Posted on Google Patty R22 October 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. President movers were fantastic to deal with. Friendly movers and fair prices. They did assembly and furniture wraping and where most companies send 2 movers they sent 4 for almost the same price. It was needed in my case as there was so much stuff to move and they got everything to the new address in great time.Posted on Google varun chaubey4 June 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recommend them.Posted on Google Mami Murakami26 May 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can definitely say that I would hire them when I will move next time. Though I have many questions because this was the first time for me to move in Canada, Archie had been very kind to answer my questions and accept my requests being patiently. Two staffs came for the day were also very kind and friendly working hard. I’ve been afraid of the possibility of scam movers but I’m lucky I could find this company. My stress had gone because of their good service. The cost is reasonable and worth it. The trust must be the most important for mover’s companies. You should try Presidentmovers!Posted on Google Steve Falls15 May 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer student rates?
Contact us directly and let us know you’re moving for SFU, and we’ll walk you through current pricing for your move.
Do you offer storage if I need to store my things over the summer?
Yes, storage is one of the services you can request when you book. Reach out with your dates and what you need stored, and we’ll help you work out the right option for your situation.
Do you provide boxes and packing supplies?
Yes, let us know what you need when you book, and we’ll bring it on moving day.
Do you charge extra for stairs or a long carry to the truck?
Extra flights of stairs or a long walk to the truck usually just mean more time, which is already factored into an hourly quote. Mention any stairs, long carries, or tricky access when you book so we can send the right crew size.
Do I need to tip the movers?
Tipping isn’t required, but it’s always appreciated if you’re happy with the service. If you’d like to, the simplest way is to hand it to the crew at the end of the move.
Can you move just my room out of a shared apartment?
Yes, we’ll move your bed, your desk, and your boxes, and leave your roommates’ space completely untouched.
Can you move just boxes and luggage?
Yes, many students moving home for the summer only need a few boxes and bags moved, not full furniture. We handle both.
What happens if something is damaged during my move?
We’re fully licensed and insured. If you believe an item was damaged, contact us right away and we’ll walk you through the next steps. You can also read our insurance and claims policy.
